About the event
Travel to a remote setting in rural southern Belize to study permaculture. You will be immersed in a 25 year old agroforestry system in the lands of the Maya. Many students in this class live in the local Mayan and Garifuna communities. Other students travel from neighboring countries, Europe, and North America. We cover the internationally recognized permaculture design curriculum. Our field trips visit traditional Mayan agroforestry farms that cultivate Cacao, Coffee, Vanilla, Cardamon, Ginger, Turmeric, and other local medicinal herbs and edible species. This is a unique opportunity for a permaculture course that is immersed in the local area while providing a global perspective.
